Superstitions

Yesterday she traveled summer
Through valleys sage brush green
Now feral creatures in their prime
Follow early broken dreams

Today she stands in refuse
Ruined cities in decay
Dismayed by stories from the past
Tomorrows that never came

Yesterday they spent the future
Burning ancient sunlight's energy
Did the world wake up in time to see?
Or were their prophets blind with greed?

Today she works the garden
In a peaceful town with quiet ways
Smiling spirit, grasses growing
Superstitions on the rise
